Ready to take control of your mental health but unsure where to begin?

Our qualified clinical psychologists can help

you make sense of what’s going on and guide you

If you’re here it likely means that you - or someone you care about - are experiencing mental distress and you’re looking for support and a way to move forward.

As a clinical psychologist with over 25 years of experience, I’ve been helping people just like you navigate a range of emotional and psychological challenges from anxiety, depression, anger, to relationship distress, psychosis, and bipolar disorder.

My expertise lies in evidence-based treatments within the cognitive and behavioural tradition of psychotherapy, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based approaches. While CBT is a well-known and widely used method, I draw from various modalities to tailor treatment to each person’s needs. I’ve studied these extensively, published research on them, and trained others at universities.

Mentoring the next generation of psychologists is something I’m really passionate about as I believe that education is the foundation of better care. Our clinicians are well supported with on-going learning plans within the practice.

I have an open-door policy - where my team knows they can always come to me for guidance and support whenever they need it. While there is a place for structured mentoring, I also believe the most meaningful learning happens in real time. They get the most out of problems that we solve for clients ‘in the moment’ so it’s important that I remain available for that.

Life isn’t flowing the way it used to.

You always thought you could push through on your own, but now you’re realising the weight of anxiety, stress, or overwhelm isn’t something that just fades - it’s holding you back in unexpected ways.

Recognising the need for help is the first step towards clarity, balance, and feeling like yourself again.

What we can help you with

  • Anxiety

Anxiety can become excessive and disabling in some people.

  • Depression

Depression is a condition characterised by low energy levels, low motivation and the inability to experience pleasure.

  • Perfectionism

Perfectionism can reduce your flexibility in the face of difficulties which can put you at risk of psychological distress.

  • Phobias

Phobias are excessive and irrational fears of specific objects or situations.

  • Sleep Disturbance

Inadequate or poor-quality sleep can lead to poor performance at work or school, difficulty concentrating and remembering things and difficulty managing emotions.

  • Anger

Some people can find themselves overwhelmed and preoccupied by minor frustrations, which can negatively impact their quality of life.

Treatment approaches we use

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) helps you identify and change patterns of behaviour and thinking that can maintain or worsen distress.

  • EMDR Therapy

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy used to assist people with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and other trauma conditions to process difficult memories.

  • Schema Therapy

Schema Therapy sheds light on the origins of your struggles and helps you find a path out of them—typically used when other approaches have not been effective.

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) was developed to help people manage emotional problems such as those experienced in borderline personality disorder.

  • Mindfulness-Based Approaches

Mindfulness therapies take an experiential approach, which means you learn and grow through practice of the techniques.

How we work with you at Aperture Psychology

We understand that the idea of therapy can feel daunting - especially if you’ve never tried it before.

Here’s what to expect when you work with us:

  • This initial assessment is usually carried out over two sessions where we gather the necessary information to construct an initial understanding of the problem and outline the treatment process.

By the end of your first session, you’ll have a clearer sense of the problem at hand and a preliminary view of the steps ahead. The second session focuses on refining this understanding through a comprehensive formulation as we explore the factors contributing to your challenges.

  • Based on the outcomes of your assessment, we create a tailored treatment plan to address your specific needs.

  • Therapy typically begins with weekly sessions (lasting 50 minutes), with the option to transition to fortnightly or monthly as progress is made. The length and frequency of treatment depends on the complexity of the problem, but most clients demonstrate measurable progress within 6 to 10 sessions.

  • We adapt your treatment to your evolving needs and keep track of your goals through standardised psychological questionnaires, a comprehensive clinical assessment, and self-reports.

  • After the active treatment phase, we continue to support you by collaborating with relevant stakeholders - whether it's your school, university, workplace, or other healthcare professionals - to help prevent setbacks. Additionally, we provide you with a range of educational resources to support your ongoing progress.
