Our Story

How did we get here?

25+ years ago, it all started with a simple idea: two people with a shared vision for providing psychological care to their local community in Sydney.

We wanted to use our expertise in the field to build a place where anyone experiencing mental health challenges felt comfortable and safe coming to us for guidance and relief.

From the beginning, the practice offered support for anxiety, depression, and couples in distress, and adopted emerging evidence-based approaches for the treatment of psychotic disorders and bipolar disorder.

As the team grew, so did our desire to support people facing mental health challenges, as well as individuals and families navigating developmental conditions and cognitive difficulties.

From Past to Present

Now, in 2025, as we step into the next chapter as Aperture Psychology, we’re building on our experience, values, and passion for helping people - expanding our services across two practices in Randwick and Marrickville, to make psychological care and mental health education more accessible.

Meet the Practice Directors

Aperture Psychology Director

Hi, I’m Peter

For me, psychology has always been about connection - listening to people’s stories, really understanding what they are going through, and working together to address the core of their concerns. It's personally rewarding to see the transformative impact the right therapy can have on someone’s life. As the Director of Clinical Psychology & Education at Aperture Psychology, I’m proud to lead a team of highly skilled clinical psychologists who share my passion for delivering clinically proven treatments that empower people to take control of their mental health.

When I’m not in the practice you’ll likely find me engaged in physical activities (I’m an avid surfer!), enjoying a good laugh with the family, or diving into the surreal world of a David Lynch film - because mental health is all about maintaining balance.

Hi, I’m Sophie

If you were ever curious about how the brain influences the way we think, feel, or act - welcome to my world. I’ve always been fascinated by the connection between brain function and behaviour and this made stepping into my role as Director of Neuropsychology and Operations at Aperture Psychology feel like a natural progression. Here, my team and I take a research-driven approach to help individuals and families get clarity on and make sense of cognitive and behavioural challenges.

I love all things natural history (dinosaurs and David Attenborough!) and ancient history. In my spare time, I hang out with the family and occasionally indulge in my love of zombie movies.
