Assessment Supervision for Psychologists
Supervision that builds confidence in assessment reasoning and diagnostic clarity
Led by Dr Sophie Li, Director of Neuropsychology and Operations at Aperture Psychology, our assessment supervision offers psychologists a considered, supportive space to strengthen their assessment skills.
Whether you are developing your confidence with neurodevelopmental assessments, working through a complex differential, or wanting a second set of eyes on a report, this is a place to think clearly about the work and grow as a clinician.
A space to refine your assessment practice
Conducting high-quality assessments is demanding work. The interpretation, the integration of cognitive, behavioural, developmental, and functional information, the diagnostic reasoning, and the responsibility of communicating findings clearly all take time and skill to develop.
This supervision is designed for exactly that. Whether you are early in your assessment work or experienced and looking to sharpen your reasoning on complex cases, it is a space to be challenged thoughtfully, held to high standards, and met with warmth.
Meet Your Supervisor: Dr Sophie Li
Director of Neuropsychology and Operations | Clinical Psychologist and Clinical Neuropsychologist | Supervising Psychologist, UNSW | BPsych(Hons), MPsych(Clin), MClinNeuropsych, PhD
Sophie is Director of Neuropsychology and Operations at Aperture Psychology and a Supervising Psychologist at UNSW, where she supervises neurodevelopmental assessments for provisional psychologists completing a Masters in Clinical Psychology.
Her supervision is grounded in neuropsychological principles and evidence-based assessment, with a focus on developing confidence in assessment reasoning and diagnostic clarity. The aim is practical, supporting you to conduct comprehensive, ethically sound assessments and to communicate findings in a way that genuinely helps the people you work with.
What Assessment Supervision Can Include:
-
A second perspective on your assessment process, interpretation, and written reports, supporting accuracy, clarity, and confidence in your conclusions.
-
Guidance on conducting and interpreting neurodevelopmental assessments for children, adolescents, and adults.
-
Support with assessments for Specific Learning Disorders and Giftedness, including test selection and interpretation.
-
Help thinking through complex or overlapping presentations where the diagnostic picture is not straightforward.
-
Bringing together cognitive, behavioural, developmental, and functional information into a coherent, defensible formulation.
-
Practical guidance on writing reports and communicating results in a way that is accurate, accessible, and useful for clients and referrers.
Program Fees & Inclusions
-
Joining the program involves a commitment to either 6 or 10 sessions, paid upfront to secure your place in the group. This structure supports continuity and group cohesion while offering the flexibility to claim CPD over several months.
-
Sessions run for 60 minutes each month via a secure Telehealth platform, providing convenience and consistency for busy professionals, whether you’re working remotely, in private practice, or balancing other roles.
-
Each session follows a clear framework, including rotating case presentations, shared clinical challenges, and reflective practice discussions. This balance of structure and peer learning supports both skill development and meaningful professional reflection.
-
We keep groups small - never more than three participants - so everyone has space to share, receive feedback, and build professional trust. This format allows for deeper engagement and personalised input in every session.
-
You’ll receive documentation after each session that meets CPD requirements. This includes attendance confirmation and a reflective log summary to support your record keeping.
-
Want to build your learning beyond the group? Peter can recommend further readings, trainings, or CPD opportunities tailored to your clinical interests and developmental goals.
This is a space where your ideas are taken seriously, where you can speak openly and where clinical supervision feels like something to look forward to.
