Meet Andrea

Andrea Efthymiou is a clinical psychology registrar with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology. She is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), the Australian and New Zealand Association of Psychiatry, Psychology and the Law (ANZAPPL) and an affiliate member of the College of Forensic Psychologists.

Andrea has experience working in multidisciplinary healthcare, education, and private practice settings. She has trained extensively in conducting comprehensive psychological assessments for a wide range of referral questions. Andrea has specialised training in the assessment of neurodevelopmental conditions across the lifespan, including autism and ADHD, as well as cognitive (e.g., intellectual disability, giftedness) and academic concerns (e.g., specific learning disorders).

In her therapeutic work, Andrea is a psychologist who is very passionate about offering evidence-based support in an individualised manner. Andrea considers the intersection of biopsychosocial factors, as well as cultural and personality factors, to understand each client holistically.

Therapy will involve a thorough initial consultation, through which Andrea will work collaboratively with each client to best understand their goals and devise a suitable treatment plan. She draws from a range of approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Compassion-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Above all, she hopes to establish a trusting therapeutic relationship. She has experience in adapting therapy for neurodiverse clients.
