About Lauren

Lauren is a warm and collaborative psychologist who is passionate about providing a safe, supportive, and comfortable therapeutic space. She takes an evidence-based approach to therapy, primarily grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Lauren also integrates techniques from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Schema Therapy to tailor treatment to each individual. She deeply values working alongside her clients as they build self-understanding and develop practical skills to make meaningful change in their lives.

Lauren enjoys working with adults of all ages, as well as older adolescents, who present with a range of mental health difficulties, including mood disorders (such as depression), anxiety, sleep difficulties, perfectionism, stress, burnout, grief, adjustment to illness, low self-esteem, emotion regulation difficulties, and interpersonal difficulties. Lauren has a particular interest in supporting individuals who experience anxiety-related difficulties (including Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety Disorder, Specific Phobias, Agoraphobia, Panic Disorder, and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)) and trauma-related difficulties (including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and complex trauma).

Lauren holds a Master of Psychology (Clinical) from UNSW and first-class Honours in Psychology from the University of Sydney. Prior to her clinical training, Lauren held a corporate role in health and mental health policy – which motivated her to pursue a career in mental health care delivery. She brings clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This includes training experience at Cumberland Hospital and the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. Lauren is currently completing the clinical psychology registrar program under the supervision of Aperture Psychology’s Principal Clinical Psychologist, Peter Walker. She is also a member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA).

When not at Aperture Psychology, Lauren currently works as a Research Officer at UNSW’s School of Psychology. In this role, she supports a range of research projects that seek to better identify causes and treatments for anxiety disorders.
