About Aliza
Dr Aliza Werner‑Seidler is an experienced Clinical Psychologist and researcher with over a decade of experience supporting young people and adults with depression, anxiety, and sleep‑related concerns. Alongside her clinical work, she is as an Associate Professor at the Black Dog Institute, UNSW Sydney, where she leads a research program focused on preventing and treating mental health difficulties in young people. Her work has been widely recognised, including more than 100 peer‑reviewed publications and over $20M in research investment, reflecting her strong contribution to evidence‑based psychological care.
Aliza works collaboratively with clients, aiming to understand their experiences and guide them through practical, effective strategies for change. She draws on a range of evidence‑based treatments, adapting her approach to each person’s circumstances. Her warm, approachable style helps clients feel understood and supported, particularly when navigating complex emotional challenges or long‑standing patterns that impact their wellbeing.
Her clinical interests include supporting individuals experiencing depression, anxiety, difficulties with sleep and insomnia, and high levels of stress or adjustment challenges. Aliza is passionate about making effective support accessible, and this commitment has guided her work in developing digital mental health tools, including Sleep Ninja and ClearlyMe.
Aliza is motivated by the opportunity to help people make meaningful shifts in their daily lives, whether through improving sleep, managing emotions, or understanding themselves better. She values the privilege of walking alongside clients as they learn new skills and develop confidence in navigating the challenges they face.
