About Alana
Alana Scully is an experienced Clinical Psychologist with more than 15 years working across private, public, and research settings. After completing her Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) and Master’s of Clinical Psychology at the University of New South Wales, she went on to hold a range of clinical, research, and leadership roles within the Eastern Suburbs Mental Health Service. Her work included serving as Clinical Lead of the Early Psychosis Program and later as Professional Head of Psychology, culminating in being recognised as the South Eastern Sydney Local Health District Psychologist of the Year in 2022. Alana has also contributed to numerous research projects, publications, and quality improvement initiatives. She is a Board Approved Supervisor and has supervised Clinical Psychology students, Registrars, and early career psychologists. She is additionally trained in the assessment of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ADOS‑2 and ADI‑R).
Alana’s therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence‑based practice. She works primarily within a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy framework and integrates Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, mindfulness‑based approaches, and Schema Therapy where clinically appropriate. She places strong emphasis on creating a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship, recognising the courage it takes to begin therapy and the importance of working at a pace that suits each individual. Her training as a yoga teacher further informs her interest in the role of movement and lifestyle factors in supporting emotional wellbeing.
Alana supports adults experiencing a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, mood difficulties, psychosis, bipolar disorder, stress, adjustment challenges, perfectionism, and issues related to ADHD and autism. She has a particular interest in helping people navigate life transitions and the unexpected moments when life unfolds differently than planned. She values working with clients to understand their experiences, strengthen coping strategies, and build a sense of stability and confidence.
Alana is motivated by the privilege of hearing people’s stories and supporting meaningful change. She enjoys helping clients build insight, reconnect with their strengths, and develop practical tools that support mental health and wellbeing. Her calm presence, deep clinical experience, and genuine respect for each person’s lived experience help create an environment where clients feel understood and supported.
